2020 Innovation Name: Hyperspectral imaging eye test to detect the signs of Alzheimer’s disease
Awards: 10th Most Innovative Health Industries Company
Centre for Eye Research Australia have developed a quick, non-invasive eye test to detect changes in the retina of the eye that can be used to identify people who are at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
The test, which uses artificial intelligence to analyse the images collected in the scans, aims to detect people at risk of Alzheimer’s earlier, paving the way for new treatments and, hopefully, a cure for the disease which is estimated to imapct over 50 million people worldwide.
