2020 Innovation Name: Curing Homesickness

‘Curing Homesickness’ is a campaign to get kids back to where they belong as soon as possible: to home, not hospital. CHE Proximity created a flagship brand with Coles to bring this to life: Mum’s Sause. It’s a bespoke brand, created entirely from scratch and it has a health rating of four stars – the only one in Australia and something that ‘Mum’ would be proud of.
Amazingly, Coles handled the R&D and distribution costs after hearing about the ‘Curing Homesickness’ initiative and incorporated the initial rough ideas for a sauce. They also agreed to donate 50c from every $3 jar to Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation – an almost unheard of proportion. In August 2020, 11 months after launch we sold our millionth jar of Mum’s Sause. On average, the initiative has raised $125,000 per quarter since launch.
